Position Summary:

 

Reporting to the Facility Director, the incumbent will be responsible for managing operations and facilities and overseeing MEP aspects of minor construction projects across AKU in Kenya

Responsibilities:

 

Guide, direct and oversee a team of electrical & mechanical supervisors and technicians, including contract / annual maintenance for day-to-day operations and maintenance of electrical & mechanical plant and equipment, in order to enhance maintenance skills, minimize plant downtime / improve uptime, and thus optimize performance and plant reliability.
Basic design and planning of electrical & mechanical systems including the selection of plant and equipment; project engineering and management of small-scale projects.
Review plans and specifications according to the project.
Provide technical advice to the designer, supervisor, inspector, and contracting service provider regarding installation and maintenance of the MEP System.
Analyze Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing engineering problems and formulate solutions.
Identify problems in the design, planning, management, and delivery of the projects in accordance with project requirements.
Plan, organize the review and evaluate the work of consultants, contractors, and others.
Manage the day-to-day work of the MEP facility team.
Report promptly on any risks associated with MEP installations.
Contractor’s testing and commissioning results.
Operation and Maintenance manuals.
Qualifications

Mechanical or Electrical Engineering University degree
Working knowledge of plans, specifications, and schematics associated with Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing work.
At least ten years of facilities and construction experience; preferably in healthcare and education facilities; with working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing
Have a strong technical understanding of facility operations and maintenance.
Computer literate.
Be highly motivated, hands-on, with self-drive and strong communication skills.
